Counselling, psychotherapy, psychosexual therapy, supervision: individual or couples therapy

Talking Therapy is an opportunity for you to meet me in a safe, confidential setting and explore areas of your life you would like help with. I embrace the Core Conditions set out by psychologist Carl Rogers:

  • Positivity towards you
  • Empathy
  • Being genuine

You may have some issues with coping at work, home or socially. A friend, colleague or doctor may have recommended you see a counsellor. Whatever course has brought you here, you are not alone and we can take your journey together. Thank you for taking this step.

Whilst not exhaustive, clients I have worked with have seen me for:

Compulsions/ Addictions, anxiety, borderline personality, cancer, childhood trauma and abuse, couple therapy, depression, extramarital affairs/ relationships, HIV, panic disorders, LGBTIA, relationships, religious/ faith issues, self-confidence, self-esteem, sexuality, suicidality.

Whilst counselling can’t necessarily take away issues that bother you, it can help you cope with events, and the experiences and feelings it brings up in you. Patients have told me how at ease and safe they feel with me and that they can be themselves; sometimes talking about issues, feelings and experiences they haven’t felt able to share with another person.

I believe that you have the abilities, experiences and insights to improve your own life, so my role as counsellor is to help you discover areas for the change you would like to make.

Research has shown that the relationship between the client and counsellor is key to enable ‘good therapy’ to take place. One of the aims during our first contact will be to look at how, and if, we choose to work together.

Perhaps you have a particular issue to focus on, which might involve short-term counselling. However, you may feel longer-term psychotherapy, looking at issues in depth, would suit and help you better.

Please take a look at My Approach to see the types of therapy I offer.

There is also a link to The Next Step to show how we begin.

Should you have any questions please contact me by Email Contact Form or by mobile which is at the top of each page. I will aim to contact you within 48 hours.
